Two state lottos in the United States are helping the incredible vaccine rollout stateside - by adding a fun twist to those that take up the fight against the Coronavirus.
As part of a country-wide drive to increase the number of citizens who take up the call to get vaccinated, officials from the Ohio and Kentucky lotteries are offering a helping hand by creating a separate lotto draw that is only eligible to those that get the vaccine!
All adults that receive at least one dose of the vaccine will be entered into a hat to win a jackpot prize - worth $225,000 in Kentucky and a whopping $1million in Ohio!
The best part? The draw will take place every Wednesday for five weeks in Ohio - which means up to five millionaires will be created - simply for doing your civic duty.
Addressing the press, Ohio governor Mike De Wine said: "From May 26th, we will announce a winner of a separate drawing for adults — adults who have received at least their first dose of the vaccine."
"I know that some of you are shaking your head and saying, 'That Mike DeWine, he's crazy." He went on to add: "the real waste is a life that is lost now to COVID-19."
Contestants in Ohio will be derived using the publicly available user registration database.
In Kentucky, a free ticket to the nightly Cash Ball lotto will be issued to every adult that receives a vaccine. The Cash Ball lotto is a nightly draw with a top prize of $225,000!
Kentucky Lottery President and CEO Mary Harville said in a press release: "We hope that by literally injecting a little fun into the process, more people will get vaccinated."
Both local governments will hope the scheme accelerates their territories towards a new normal and the re-opening of its local businesses - many have been decimated by the pandemic.
