Launched by Betfred in May 2020, available in all Betfred bookmakers across the country and online via Betfred.com. All draws are shown live.
The Nifty Fifty is drawn three times daily - 11:30, 14:30, 18:30. All of the draws can be watched live either in Betfred shops or online at Betfred.com.
6 main balls plus a bonus ball are drawn from a selection of 1 - 50. Bettors can bet on 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 balls. Bettors decide when placing their bet if they want to bet without the bonus ball (6 ball draw) or with the bonus ball (7 ball draw).

Betfred don’t specify a time that bets must be placed by, however, typically you have to place bets at least 15 minutes before the draw.
As this is betting on numbers and not buying a ticket (see ways to play for more info) you select the number of balls you want to bet on before the draw. You can chose to bet on 1,2,3,4 or 5 balls. 3 balls is a popular choice as this offers a balance between chance of winning and high returns.
When you bet on numbers you have to select the number of balls beforehand - if you bet on 3 balls you must match 3 balls to win, If you bet on 4 balls, you must match 4 balls to win, etc. If you only match 2 out of 3 you do not win.
When placing your bet you have to select ‘with bonus ball’. If you look at the odds table above the odds are different if you select ‘with’ or ‘without’ bonus ball - that’s because this affects the chance of you winning.
The Nifty Fifty was developed by Betfred. They may choose to offer this through other bookmakers in the future.
Currently, this is not possible.
As you are placing a bet with a bookmaker you must be over 18 years old.
You must enter a minimum total stake of £0.50. You can enter less than £0.50 per line if you have multiple lines.
The maximum pay-out to any one customer, or group/syndicate of customers acting together, is £500,000 GBP on Betfred Lotto, in any one day.
The short and sweet answer is there is no tax at all to pay on either gambling winnings or stakes in the UK (if you are not based in the UK please check your local jurisdiction).
Although there is not a specific app for betting on the Nifty Fifty, you can bet on the Nifty Fifty through the Betfred Lotto app. Available on iOS/Apple and Android.
