Omaze is a raffle website with top prizes that are typically physical items (usually houses & cars) rather than cash. Some recent top prizes include a £5M Chelsea Townhouse and a £3M country manor house in Somerset

Participants have the chance to win dream prizes while supporting various charitable causes. Charities supported include the NHS Charities together and The RSPCA. Omaze state that 80% of net proceeds go to charity.

The draws are quite infrequent compared to lotteries - usually, once every few weeks or more. The pricing is also quite different from lotteries - online you must buy a bundle of entries (the minimum being £10 for 15 entries) - or you can subscribe to a monthly package (again, £10 min). You can enter for free (well, the price of a stamp), however, you only get one entry per postal entry so it's actually more expensive than online (second class stamp = 75p vs £10 for 15 entries or 67p/each).

Generally, we find having a physical prize, in particular the Dream House, a really fun concept - it brings alive the what if moments that you get from playing the lottery. Read on for our full review.

Minimum Stake

(3/5) Compare

How does the minimum entry price compare to other prize draw operators?

Review
Review
Our Opinion

You can enter for free via post (although, this will cost you the price of a stamp), however, if you want to enter online the lowest entry price is £10. Quite steep compared to lotteries and other prize draws.

What is the maximum you can win based on a single entry to the prize draw.

Review
Review
Our Opinion

The Dream House prizes are valued at as much as £5M - this is comparable with a National Lottery jackpot when you take into account sharing the top prize.

How Does The Draw Work?

It’s important to be aware that Omaze is a raffle and not a lottery. There are a couple of key differences between a raffle and a lottery:

  1. Guaranteed Winners: Each Omaze prize has a guaranteed winner. Lotteries can have numbers that are drawn which no one has picked - the prize then rolls over.
  2. No Charity Requirement: Lotteries are required by UK law to donate a certain percentage of ticket sales to charity. Raffles aren’t required to donate to charity. In the case of Omaze, there is a large charitable element to it by choice.
  3. Unknown Odds: With a lottery you can accurately work out the odds of winning the top prize. However, with raffles it’s based entirely on how many tickets are sold - fewer tickets sold means you have a better chance, more tickets sold means you have a worse chance. As Omaze never publish exact player numbers it’s impossible to calculate.
Pros
  • Generous donations to UK-based charities
  • Enter for free (only via post)
  • Subscribe option to save money
  • Regular draws
  • Dream prizes
Cons
  • Impossible to work out accurate odds of winning
  • No offers for new or existing customers
  • Minimum online entry is £10
  • No way to watch live draw
