Slingo 49’s Explained: The Daily Draw Gets the Slingo Treatment

After working in the gambling industry for over a decade, Oliver spotted an opportunity to setup a resource for lottery bettors. CompareTheLotto.com was founded in 2014, with Bet49s.com and Bet49s.co.za following shortly after. The aim is to find the best odds, offers and information for lottery bettors.

The 49’s daily numbers draw has been turned into a Slingo game for the first time. Announced at the start of July 2026 through a licensing deal between Gaming Realms — the studio behind Slingo — and SIS, which runs the 49’s draw, Slingo 49’s folds the familiar 49’s branding, theme tune and presenters into Gaming Realms’ well-known Slingo format.

If you know 49’s from the twice-a-day (now four-times-a-day) live draws but have never played a Slingo title, here’s a plain-English rundown of how the game actually works, what sets it apart, and what the launch might signal for the 49’s brand.

How Slingo 49’s Works

At its core, Slingo is a mash-up of slots and bingo, and Slingo 49’s follows the standard template with one notable tweak: it uses a 4x4 grid rather than the 5x5 grid most Slingo games are built on. That makes for a slightly tighter, faster game.

The basics:

  • You set your stake and press Spin. You get 5 base spins to start.
  • Each spin sends numbers up a reel beneath the grid. If a reel number matches a number on your grid, you can mark (“dab”) it off.
  • Completing a full line — horizontal, vertical or diagonal — is a Slingo. The more Slingos you complete, the higher you climb the Payladder, and the bigger the prize.
  • A single dab can complete more than one line at once. There are 10 possible win lines but only 9 award tiers, because the final number on the grid always completes at least two lines together.

Two symbols help you along the way. A Wild lets you mark any number in the column directly above it, while a Super Wild lets you mark any number anywhere on the grid. There’s also a Bonus Spin symbol that grants an extra spin, though this only appears during the base game.

The Payladder

Prizes are paid as a multiple of your stake and increase as you complete more Slingos:

Slingos completed Award (x stake)
10.5x
21x
32.5x
45x
510x
625x
750x
8100x
10250x

(There’s no separate rung for 9 Slingos — because of the way that final line resolves, the ladder jumps from 8 straight to the full-house 250x award.)

The Four Jackpots

Sitting alongside the Payladder is a separate jackpot mechanic. After each spin, jackpot overlays can appear on the reel. Collect four of the same jackpot overlay in a single spin to win that jackpot:

Jackpot Award (x stake)
Grand5,000x
Major500x
Minor50x
Mini5x

The Grand Jackpot’s 5,000x is the headline number you’ll see quoted for the game. It’s worth being clear that these are the fixed values of the four jackpots — the game’s help screens set out the trigger (four matching overlays in one spin) but don’t publish the odds of landing one, so treat the 5,000x as the size of the top prize rather than a likelihood.

RTP

The game runs a theoretical RTP of 94.57% in the base game, with each extra spin returning a minimum of 94.6%. Bear in mind RTP describes the long-run average return across all players and outcomes combined — it isn’t the chance of hitting any particular jackpot, and most of that return comes back through the smaller, more frequent line wins rather than the top prizes.

What Is Slingo, Exactly?

If Slingo 49’s is your first Slingo game, the format itself has a long history. It was created in the mid-1990s by combining bingo with a slot-machine reel, and it’s since grown into a genre of its own with well over a hundred titles. Gaming Realms has owned and developed the Slingo brand since 2015, producing both original games and branded tie-ins with everything from classic slots to entertainment IP.

If you want to explore the wider range of Slingo games and where to play them, our Slingo section breaks down the format and rounds up the main titles.

49’s Games — The First of Many?

For 49’s fans, this is a genuinely new departure. The 49’s draw launched back in 1996 as a fixed-odds lottery bet, letting players bet on numbers from 1 to 49 across daily draws — a line-up that expanded to four draws a day (Brunch, Lunchtime, Teatime and Drivetime) in 2026. Both 49’s and Slingo happen to be marking their 30th anniversaries this year.

What makes Slingo 49’s notable is that, according to the companies involved, it’s the first time SIS has licensed IP from its numbers-draw portfolio for use in a game like this. In other words, this is 49’s stepping into a casino-style gaming format for the very first time, rather than sticking purely to its live betting draws.

Whether it’s a one-off or the start of something broader is the interesting question. SIS has framed Slingo as a way to introduce 49’s to a “new player vertical,” and licensing established brands into new formats is central to how Gaming Realms operates — so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 49’s name appear in further games if this one lands well. For now, though, Slingo 49’s is the first and only title of its kind.

Where to Play

Currently, Slingo 49’s is only available in the UK through Betfred, one of Gaming Realms’ operator partners. Availability may widen to other sites over time.

Slingo 49's is intended for players aged 18 and over. Please gamble responsibly — set your limits before you play and take a break if you need one. Support and advice are available at BeGambleAware.org.
