There was quite a stir when Set For Life first came onto the lotto scene back in 2019! The new format rewards lucky players with a top prize of £10,000 every month for thirty years - a total of £3.6million - rather than a lump sum upfront.
Set For Life is just the latest of several new lotteries available to players - such as the Postcode Lottery, the Euromillions, and the Health Lottery. It's a far cry from when the only lotto available in Britain was the UK National Lottery back in the mid-1990s.
The landscape has changed so dramatically that players can now also bet on lotto numbers for a chance at landing big wins. For example, the likes of Betfred and Boylesports offer various betting options on most of their lotteries, including specials such as the number of the bonus ball and whether it is odd or even. As part of the National UK Lottery set-up, Set For Life helps contribute millions of pounds to good causes every year. For example, a total of £7.9bn was raised in ticket sales in the year ending 31 March 2020 - of which a massive £1.8bn went to National Lottery projects. A further £4.5bn was paid out to National Lottery players - including lucky Set For Life winners!
Since its inception, over £10bn has been donated to charities from National Lottery proceeds - it even helped fund the build of Wembley Stadium, which is now the pride of the British sporting scene.
You need to pick five numbers ranging from 1-47 and one Life Ball number between 1 and 10. You can use the Lucky Dip tool if you don't have any special digits.
To win the top prize, you need to match all your numbers and the Life Ball! You can play up to seven lines of numbers at £1.50 per line and buy up to 10 slips at any one time.
The Set For Life odds for the top prize is one in 15.3m, meaning your chances of winning measure up well compared to the likes of the National Lottery (one in 45m) and the EuroMillions (one in 139m).
Like other lotteries, you can still win other prizes even if all your numbers don't come in.
