A different kind of competition called Omaze has taken the world by storm, embracing a new era of the prize draw style lottery games.
Utilising the donations of influencers and brands, Omaze offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences and modern gadgets from leading companies, rather than cash as top prizes.
Check out the comparethelotto.com analysis of Omaze below:
How Does Omaze Work?
First and foremost - Omaze works with non-profit organisations to empower and support their operations, offering them a different platform to showcase their work.
When you sign up and join the Omaze mission, you can enter into raffles to win sensational prizes while simultaneously donating to your favourite charity.
You can make donations or enter for free - you need to visit omaze.com to register.
Where does your money go if you contribute?
Were you to donate €10, for example, €7 typically goes towards shipping and sourcing the prize, €1.50 goes towards charity, and €1.50 goes towards expanding the Omaze model.
Since its inception, Omaze has made donations worth over £130million to charitable causes.
What Are My Chances Of Winning?
All player tickets are weighted equally, whether you donate or not. For every entry, you will receive 2,000 tickets. Players can claim a maximum of 25,000 entries for each competition up until 14th May 2020. From 15th May onwards, there will be a maximum of 6,000 tickets per player.
There are no accurate odds associated with winning the Omaze lottery, as entrants vary according to the top prize's popularity.
Within ten days of the competition closing date, an automated random draw process will occur, followed by a confirmation check, to verify whether the winning participant meets legal requirements. Once the background analysis is complete, the people at Omaze will inform the winning player via email or phone.
Is It Free To Play?
Yes it can be - you can enter at omaze.com free of charge or donate to a charity of your choice.
Is It Safe And Legal?
Yes - Omaze lays out its terms and conditions succinctly on its website and offers players the opportunity to demand lists of winners for each competition, provided you submit the request within 30 days of it taking place.
How Does It Compare?
Omaze stands alone in terms of the prizes it offers - such as meet-ups with celebrities and VIP holidays. However, there are other competitions out there with flash prizes.
For example, the BOTB competition gives players a chance to land the latest fast cars and includes cash prizes. Instead of raffle entries, players need to locate the missing ball on an image. A panel of judges then decides the winner!
BOTB do claim to have a charitable mission also - so far, over £160,000 has been donated to leading UK charities. This is obviously a much lower contribution level than Omaze. You can read our BOTB review here.
Verdict
It may not prove popular among lotto traditionalists - particularly those that love their lucky numbers. Still, Omaze is a fresh, fun, and charitable way to participate in competitions for a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
