We all know the lottery is simply down to statistics and probability, right? Well that is definitely true, but what is also a fact is that certain numbers appear to defy the statistical probabilities and be drawn more than others.

In a recent article in the Daily Mail, these numbers were referred to as the ‘luckiest' numbers. They quoted research conducted by Jackpot, analysing a year of more than 1,500 draws from 15 international lotteries including Irish Lotto, EuroMillions, UK Lotto and US Powerball.

The 'luckiest' number leader board was topped by ball 16, which was drawn a whopping 191 times in the last 12 months!

Conversely the unluckiest number was poor old 36, which was only drawn 8 times in the last year. This means that Number 16 was almost x24 times more lucky than Number 36!

How can I use this Lotto Leaderboard to get lucky myself?

These numbers may have been be drawn more but that doesn't necessarily mean they were drawn together in the same draw. So if you're buying a ticket and have to choose 6 numbers and want them to be a ‘lucky' combination the leaderboard might not be useful.
