After working in the gambling industry for over a decade, Oliver spotted an opportunity to setup a resource for lottery bettors. CompareTheLotto.com was founded in 2014, with Bet49s.com and Bet49s.co.za following shortly after. The aim is to find the best odds, offers and information for lottery bettors.
Note: *The following article is purely for fun. It is based on individual opinions and does not constitute advice. The drawing of lottery numbers is entirely random. Please always gamble responsibly. #Ad. Find out more on our How Our Site Works page.
Here at CompareTheLotto.com we’re proud to be at the forefront of lottery betting online and are always looking for ways to bring our users more value and useful information. Our introduction of Hot & Cold Theoretical Winnings and Draw Simulators are examples of just that. Let’s take a look at how they both work:
Hot & Cold balls are loved by users as they give the user some feedback on number frequency and how lucky or unlucky they have been (even though, all balls have an equal chance of being drawn). However, even if you can see how many times your lucky number has been drawn it’s quite hard to quantify whether or not that has been a good bet. That’s where theoretical Winnings comes in - we display the theoretical Winnings (or loss) based on if you’d had a hypothetical £1 bet on that number or numbers for every available draw.
For example: The Irish Lotto is drawn twice per week (Main Draw), that’s 104 draws per year. If I select the ‘1 Year’ filter that’s 104 draws and £104 hypothetical stakes. I can see 38 is the ‘hottest’ ball having appeared 24 times, this means the total return would be £144. Then minus the stake from the total return (£144 - £104) equals £40 theoretical Winnings.
These odds are based on Betfred, which is currently the best odds, however, check our Irish Lotto odds table to compare the latest odds. Obviously, it pays to compare as if you’re not getting the best odds your returns is lower.
As you would expect, when you bet on the trebles, if your luck comes in the returns are much bigger than the singles:
Currently, we’ve just added Theoretical Winnings to our most popular lottos: Irish Lotto, 49’s Lotto, and Nifty Fifty.
These neat little tools enable you to select your normal bet, select your numbers and then simulate up to 10,000 draws at a time.
Currently, we have only built an Irish Lotto simulator and a 49’s Lotto simulator as these are the most popular with our users. If there are other lottos you’d like to see, let us know in the comments. Also, as the majority of our users like fixed-odds lotto betting, these tools are for fixed-odds bets, not for buying a ticket/winning the jackpot.
How they work:
Important to note: These draws are completely random, the same as the actual draws. There is no correlation to previous results or number frequency/hot & cold balls. They are not a prediction of future draws.
