Cancer research is the only charity to fund research into all 200 types of cancer. Over the past 40 years researchers have made great progress in the fight against cancer, and survival has doubled. In the 1970s just 1 in 4 people survived the disease for 10 years or more. Today 2 in 4 survive. Cancer Research’s ambition is to see 3 in 4 patients survive the disease by 2034. Cancer Research focus their efforts in four key areas – working to help prevent cancer, early diagnosis, developing new treatments and optimizing current treatments by personalizing them and making them even more effective.
The Cancer Research Lottery is drawn every Friday and players will be automatically entered into the Superdraw three times a year with a £15,000 jackpot. Entries to the Cancer Research Lottery cost just £1 per week and you could win one of 500 amazing cash prizes up to £1,000. The top prize is £1,000, 2nd Prize £250 and 3rd Prize is £100 with three winners, 4th Prize is £10 with 45 winners and 450 runners up will win £5.
In 2019, 43% of the proceeds from the sale of entries to the lottery and raffles was used to help support the charities vital work. This is more than all major non-charity-run lotteries such as The National Lottery and Euromillions donate to charitable causes. The rest was used to grow and administer the lottery and to pay prizes.
Cancer Research cannot reach their mission alone and rely on dedicated scientists, doctors and nurses and the generosity of their supporters across the UK. The Cancer Research UK Weekly Lottery is a fun way to support life-saving research.
